From the sellers

In 2007, we made the decision to relocate our family from Mill Creek to the North Mathews Beach community, driven by the desire to take advantage of the excellent Seattle Public School system and to significantly reduce our commute to our jobs at UW and Fred Hutch. Although the initial house was too small for our needs, the breathtaking views of Lake Washington and the Cascade mountains convinced us to undertake the challenging task of remodeling and adding a second floor.

Our home quickly became the heart of countless cherished moments. The living room, family room, and upstairs den were bustling hubs for entertainment, exercise, reading, and quiet reflection. With multiple bathrooms and bedrooms, we could comfortably accommodate our  family and welcome guests. The convenience of having an upstairs laundry room ensured that chores were completed seamlessly amidst our busy schedules.

The view of the lake, especially at dawn, was nothing short of spectacular and remained a constant source of awe. The principal bedroom offered an equally stunning vista, with sparkling lights dancing on the water day and night. The reflection of the full moon over Lake Washington and the pink hues at dusk never ceased to captivate us.

We delighted in hosting dinner parties and celebrating milestones like our children's birthdays and graduations. The cozy living room, complete with a corner fireplace, provided the perfect backdrop for simultaneous lake gazing and fireside chats. The deck, equipped with an awning, became our favorite spot for outdoor relaxation, offering unparalleled views of the lake whether in the sun or shade. Adjacent to the deck, we installed high-quality artificial turf, creating additional space for gatherings and leisure activities.

The basement apartment, with its connecting door, offered remarkable versatility, serving as a rental unit for tenants or a private enclave for extended family members. We leveled the west side of the yard to accommodate storage for a boat or RV.

The lush vegetation in the front yard provided privacy and added another inviting space for us to unwind on the porch. Our vegetable garden and fruit trees including apple, peach, pear, fig, and plum, was a constant source of delight, providing fresh produce for seasonal meals and homemade preserves like fruit pies, apple cider, and canned jams.

The neighborhood itself was a gem, with annual barbecues and Sunday evening gatherings fostering a strong sense of community. Access to Matthews Beach and the Burke Gilman trail made outdoor recreation effortless, and it was not uncommon for neighbors to paddle to Magnuson café for leisurely lunches or dinners. We often rode our bikes north to Third Place Commons in Lake Forest Park or go South to U-village.
